What does art sound like?

It’s a good question to get us thinking a little differently about art. We hear so many sounds as we go about our day, from the barking of dogs, to the booming of an airplane overhead to people holding conversations all around us. But what if a visual artist could capture those sounds in images made by the stroke of a brush?

Seriously, if you’ve ever listened to a song that has painted a mental picture in your head, then it’s perfectly reasonable to consider that a work of art might conjure up certain sounds in your imagination as well. 

For this highly engaging Tate Kids video (the Tate is a very famous museum in London, by the way), writer / digital creator Kirstie Beaven creates original artworks that are intended to inspire us to hear the wind or even a stormy sea…of course, without the chance of actually ending up shipwrecked. Phew!
